FSR is pleased to partner with the Denver Sarcoidosis
Awareness Support Group and event founder Kirk Mease on the fourth annual Golf in the Darc for Sarc
Glow Ball Golf tournament to benefit neurosarcoidosis programs at FSR.
Researchers think that neurosarcoidosis affects as
many as 15 percent of sarcoidosis patients. Its symptoms can
include seizures, behaviour and mood changes, vision problems and even
paralysis.
About the Event's Founder: Soon after learning he had
neurosarcoidosis, golf-pro Kirk Mease, shared "as I came to terms
with my diagnosis, I again began to think of ways to fight back. It was
a cloudy and stormy afternoon sometime in July of 2006 that I was trying
to find some catchy logo that rhymed with Neurosarcoidosis. You
can try but it is like finding a word that rhymes with orange, it was
impossible. It was then that lightning struck (literally) outside my
home in Green Valley Ranch. The idea was sparked to have a Glow
Ball golf tournament and I was going to name it Golf In The Darc For
Sarc." Eight weeks later the inaugural event was held and proceeds were
used to develop FSR's free booklet on
Sarcoidosis & The
Nervous System. This fourth year is dedicated to Kirk's
mother, Nancy Mease.
