TEAM SARCOISOSIS WALKS IN THE 5TH
ANNUAL HIKE FOR LUNG HEALTH
Chicago, IL (25 September 2011) The Hike
for Lung Health, a one-mile or three-mile walk held in Chicago at
Lincoln Park, provides an opportunity for lung health charities to
work together to collectively raise awareness and funds for their
causes.
Despite the clouds and rain, the Foundation for
Sarcoidosis Research’s team, Team Sarcoidosis, was the largest team
for the fifth consecutive year. Team Sarcoidosis (pictured above)
was comprised of more than 80 FSR supporters who raised nearly
$15,000 to support lung health, and FSR’s highest fundraising team
member, Karen Bogner, was recognized by the crowd of several hundred
event participants for her efforts.
FSR President Andrea Wilson remarked, “FSR is proud to partner with
the Respiratory Health Association on this important event. The
funds raised by Team Sarcoidosis at the Hike for Lung Health will
support FSR’s patient education and research initiatives throughout
the year.” FSR has recently announced plans to fund another
research grant in 2011-2012. In addition, the Foundation is in the
process of creating a new educational booklet, Sarcoidosis and
the Eye, and is planning a patient education conference this
fall in New York City.

About Sarcoidosis & FSR
Sarcoidosis (pronounced SAR-COY-DO-SIS) is an inflammatory
disease that can affect almost any organ in the body. It causes
heightened immunity which means that a person's immune system, which
normally protects the body from infection and disease, overreacts,
resulting in damage to the body's own tissues. Sarcoidosis is often
serious and can even be life-threatening, especially if you do not
know you have it. The cause remains unknown and there is no cure.
The Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research (FSR) is the nation’s
leading organization dedicated to improving care for patients and to
finding a cure for this disease. Since 2000, FSR has funded numerous
domestic and international research efforts and has provided
resources to thousands of patients, their families and their
physicians. For more information, please visit
