FSR is thrilled to host our first ever Virtual Paint Night! Join FSR in continuing to move the needle forward to better understand the health problems currently facing minorities and other health disparity populations. FSR is proud to be working to address health disparities in the sarcoidosis community, through our #IgnoreNoMore Campaign. Join FSR staff and Women of Color Committee host, Chasta Posey, for a fun paint night aimed at raising awareness of sarcoidosis and its disproportionate impact on African American women. #IgnoreNoMore #MakeItVisible
About the art:
Our artist will provide instructions for painting a version of the extremely popular FSR African American Women and Sarcoidosis Campaign poster, #IgnoreNoMore.
About the supplies:
Each participant is responsible for purchasing their own supplies, or having supplies they can use to paint and join in the creative process. Our artist recommends the following supplies, and you may use the Amazon link (don’t forget to use Amazon smile to support FSR!) to purchase them in advance, or find similar items at your local arts store.
- Pre-primed 11×14 canvas
- Acrylic paint
- Paint palette (plastic plate or similar will also work)
- Cheap dish sponge (does not have to be new, if you have an old one it will work, but it may be cut up and no longer safe for cleaning)
- Foam brushes
- Paint Brushes
- Old or cheap toothbrush (you’ll never use for brushing your teeth again!)
- Plastic or old cup for water
- Old dish towel or tea towel (it will never look clean again)
- (OPTIONAL) Metallic markers
About our artist:
Angelique Daniels is a self-taught Artist and owner of The Shoe Chick Art Studio. Her work is inspired by friend and former employer, the late great Ms. Annie Lee.
Angelique partners with a Christian organization and helps supply kids in Africa with shoes. She is also an organ donor. Angelique’s husband received her kidney in August 2019. They established their Non-profit, PAINT 4 KIDNEYS, in 2021 to bring joy to the lives of Las Vegas Kidney patients through art.
About our Moderator: Chasta Posey
Being a 16-year survivor of sarcoidosis, Chasta has served in several roles, during her tenure at FSR. Those roles include Patient Ambassador, Patient Advocate, Patient Navigator and Peer Mentor. She has also served as the Upstate Representative for the Sarcoidosis Foundation of South Carolina! Chasta really enjoys helping people.
