About This Event

FSR's Inaugural Sarcoidosis Awards Gala brings together members of the sarcoidosis community to celebrate clinicians, researchers, and advocates from around the globe leading the charge to advance sarcoidosis research and carve the path towards better treatments and a cure.

Dress code is cocktail attire.

Early Bird ticket pricing is available until April 15, 2023.

6:00-6:30pm: Cocktails

6:30-9:00pm: Dinner and Awards

If you are a PhD Student, Resident, or Fellow, you are eligible for a discounted rate for attendance at $250 during the early bird period which closes April 15, 2023.   Please email info@stopsarcoidosis.org with your interest and an email about your status as a PhD Student, Resident, or Fellow and we will send the link for where to register.

Nonprofit partners may also be eligible for a discounted rate and should reach out to info@stopsarcoidosis.org.

Accommodations

There is no hotel block associated with this event. If you need accommodations, we recommend you seek locations near the Union Station. 

Refund Policy

All cancellations for full refund must be sent in writing to info@stopsarcoidosis.org by no later than April 30, 2023.   Please be advised that there are no refunds or credits available after April 30, 2023. All ticket sales will be final after this date.

Safety precautions

FSR recommends all individuals follow the CDC guidelines and their clinician guidance for COVID-vaccination and masking with regard to COVID-19 safety.

John Carlin

John Carlin is the anchor of the 5, 5:30, 6 pm, and 11 pm newscasts on WSLS 10 News. A veteran newscaster, John has been at the station for more than 30 years. During that time, he has received many awards and honors including lifetime achievement awards from the Virginia Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press of the Virginias. He also is co-chair of the Patient Advisory Committee for the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, where he hosts the FSR Sarc Fighter podcast, which shines a light on this rare disease.

FSR Sarcoidosis Crystal Award for Excellence in Research and Clinical Care

Marjolein Drent, MD, PhD

FSR Scientific Advisory Board member, Professor emeritus ILD at the FHML of the Maastricht University, NL, guest senior researcher at the ILD Center of Excellence, St. Antonius Hospital, Nieuwegein, NL, Chair ILD care foundation and honorary member of Sarcoidose.nl (Dutch Sarcoidosis Patient Association). She has been involved in sarcoidosis care and research for over 30 years. She has received several awards and honors, including the ‘World Sarcoidosis Person of the Year Award’ in 2012 in Dublin, Ireland, and the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Lifetime Achievement Award ILD.

FSR Sarcoidosis Crystal Spotlight Award

Actress best known for her roles in AMC's "The Walking Dead" (Jacqui), DC Universe's "The Swamp Thing" (Madame Xanadu), Netflix's Resort to Love (Naomi King), and most recently "All the Queen's Men" (Judge Martha), BET Plus. Sarcoidosis advocate and spokesperson for FSR's Ignore No More: African American Women & Sarcoidosis National Campaign.

The FSR Inaugural Gala will take place on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 6:00pm-9:00pm EST at Union Station in Washington, DC on the heels of an FSR Congressional Briefing focused on improving diversity and representation in clinical trials. This Congressional Briefing is taking place the same day as the Gala at 12:00pm EST in room 2075 of the Rayburn Building on Capitol Hill.
