Sarcoidosis can affect any organ, including eyes, and May is National Healthy Vision Month! Sarcoidosis of the eyes can bring any number of symptoms, and it’s important to understand what to look for, even if you haven’t been diagnosed with this manifestation. Join FSR Patient Advocate and Navigator, Jim Kuhn, as he shares his own experience with ocular sarcoidosis, and how an eye exam finally lead to a diagnosis. We’ll also explore and discuss the following topics:

  • Getting to know the basics fo ocular sarcoidosis
  • What to look for in changes to your visual health
  • How to find a knowledgeable provider, and the differences between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist

About our host:

Jim Khun is a Rare Disease Warrior/Advocate/Speaker/Mentor. Diagnosed in 2014 with Sarcoidosis -initially starting in his lungs/lymph nodes, before quickly spreading to his eyes and skin, and most recently he was also diagnosed with neuro-sarcoidosis. Jim also suffers from several other, closely related, rare diseases, and his complicated medical condition has left him 100% disabled since late 2016. Jim is passionate about helping other sarcoidosis sufferers – giving them tips to understand and live with this disease, and to find knowledgeable healthcare providers to care for them.

Jim spent 35+ years in global business and medical mission leadership roles, and holds roles as an FSR Patient Advocate, Navigator, and member of the Patient Advisory Committee.

Jim, along with his wife of 33 years (Jean), refuse to let my disability ruin my enjoyment of life. He enjoys spending short periods of time gardening, and is an accomplished cook – winning multiple awards in national chili cook-offs.
