Sarcoidosis Awareness Month is a time for the community to rally together sharing stories, spreading awareness, and providing education about sarcoidosis to those all around the world.

This year’s theme of #FacingSarcoidosisTogether truly captures the essence of clinical research. The success of research depends upon effective collaboration with many different stakeholders from providers to researchers, industry to government, and crucially, to patients who remain steadfastly centered in research.

FSR partners with academic researchers and companies in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries through the SARConnect program to support studies and clinical trials. FSR’s current research corporate partners include aTyr, Avalyn Pharma, Molecure, Xentria, and 4YouandMe. You can learn more about the FSR SARConnect Program here.

FSR employs a variety of strategies to support successful clinical trial development and trial recruitment. Early engagement with patient advocacy organizations, and continuous incorporation of the patient voice in clinical trials, contributes immensely to clinical trial success. Moreover, in rare diseases and especially sarcoidosis, it is a challenge to enroll for clinical trials. The success of the trial then truly relies on the active participation and engagement of the patient community.

Time after time, patients with sarcoidosis have responded to the call for study participants and have signed up, contributing their time and attending all necessary study visits and requirements. This has contributed to the successful enrollment of four FSR partnered studies in 2024 alone, helping us to get closer to a new treatment for sarcoidosis.
